Kids Academy Erina Heights
'A Word from the Director'
Hi my name is Peta Pattenden and I am the Director of Kids Academy Erina Heights. I have been with Kids Academy since 2006.
Here at Erina Heights we are a team of eight experienced staff. We are very dedicated to our centre and our children. Our qualified team are friendly and enthusiastic about early childhood education and are continuously updating their knowledge. We believe that each child deserves access to quality early education and care to ensure that each child’s individual needs are being met.
Our flexible daily program allows each child to be treated as an individual and their needs and skills are supported, enhanced and encouraged. Through incorporating the Early Years Learning Framework into our centre philosophy, program and daily slide show our children’s learning and development is maximised. Each child will receive a portfolio at the end of the year, which reflects your child’s year of learning, developing, discovering and enjoyment.
We promote multiculturalism and diversity throughout the centre and integrate this into our programming. We encourage families to share their cultural background with us through joining us in daily activities. The benefits the children receive from the experience provided is invaluable.
Our centre caters for children from 2 to 5 years old. We have 3 spacious rooms providing the children with age appropriate equipment and resources. Our Pre School room provides computers which develops’ the children’s IT awareness, literacy skills and encourages different mediums to be explored. Our School Wise curriculum is a guide for your child’s transition to school; this is not only used in the programming for the preschool children but throughout the entire period that your child is enrolled at Kids Academy. Our Outdoor Area consists of two playgrounds; our lower playground is shaded and has a soft fall surface, great for climbing, riding bikes and cars. Our top playground consists of a large grassed area, square sandpit and spacious decked wooden cubby house. Both playgrounds overlook our bushland setting.

Kids Academy Erina Heights Philosophy
Kids Academy Erina Heights is an early learning facility, which aims to provide a new standard in early childhood care and education. Our centre provides a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment at making children feel safe and secure where they can develop to their fullest potential.
We acknowledge that each child is a unique individual and therefore aim to provide an environment where each child’s eagerness and curiosity is fostered, and creative thinking is encouraged and catered for. Opportunities will be provided for each child to participate in the environment around them based on their own ideas, thoughts, feelings and interests. Children will be responsible for the choices made, allowing them time to reflect, reinforce and explore their own interests, encouraging their sense of autonomy and initiative. We aim to provide experiences that not only meet each individual child’s interests but also to extend the child’s learning and knowledge.An individual program catering to each child’s specific educational and developmental needs will be provided based on the observed interests and needs of the children, input from the families, incorporating information from the local school communities. The curriculum is based on the Early Years Learning Framework, which is designed to promote skills across all developmental areas within a flexible learning environment. We encourage children to learn through exploration, curiosity and investigation. Each child will be listened to, guided, encouraged and challenged to promote learning and self worth.
Families are recognised at Kids Academy Erina Heights as the most important teachers in each child’s life. Every effort will be made to develop respectful and caring relationships with families so as to create a harmonious partnership in each child’s education and care. The centre maintains an Open Door Policy and family participation in all aspects of the program will be appreciated and valued.
A multicultural and anti-bias approach will be adopted within the program aiming to introduce and respect the diverse nature of the society we live in, encouraging a happy and accepting environment for all children regardless of religion, culture or family background.
